Black Belts???

Any know a good place I can tell my LHS's to get them from. I awlays get one and keep em til about 9-10" then they just damn mean. No one has them coming in.

oh, and whats another fish that looks like it? I thought petco had one before the storm but the dude there said it was something else.
(He's not a reg store person either, he knows his fish)

Try Jeff Rapps over at Tangled Up In Cichlids he currently has them on his stock list "Vieja maculicauda 4-4.5" $15.00 adolescent black belts with color". I have dealt with Jeff many times and can reccomend him with confidence. So many of the Vieja species are so similar in charateristics that it is often difficult to tell them apart.

But what fun is it to grow one to 9 in. if you buy it at 4 in? Try Petsmart they have them buy me occasionally. But mom and pop shops are the best for buying hard to find cichlids. Those stores are owned by people like us.

You may want to give another Vieja Species a try. I think Ufermani are not as aggressive. I also think heterospilus do not get much above 8" and arent so bad. Also, I kept a synsipillum in a 220 and he was not aggressive at all. What size tank are you keeping them in?

I had a synspilum kill my Red Terror in a 130.

Go with zonatus...they are just pimp lookin!! ...and yea...Rapps is the way to go...

I only had a 55 for my 1st 3 but my last one was in my 150 for only about 3 months. I'll ask them if they ever order from there or would consider ordering.

I know the closest one to me was mainly geting his fish from local breeders but everyone lost most or all. He got pics from rapps so I guess he'd be willing to do it. Shiping systems are still not that good right now.

My store has a bunch of nice little guys, about 2-3" we got from Rapps. I have one now at home, and he's just starting to get a little color. Sorry guy, we don't ship, just thought I'd share. As soon as I install the camera I'll post some pics.

Im only looking for the stores anyway. Trying to help get things semi back to normal. Im hopeing I get lucky and find something in Atlanta next week. I was told about 2 shops and my friend found a shop not to far from him.

this was my last one from the 55g sold in '04. gotta track down my small one from the 150.

Why don't we have a breeders forum on here so people can post there species and there shipping prices? Not the buyer/seller forum those are mainly Pet stores.
