Black blotches on Dovii head?

What is this it was there a little in the morning and has spread since

Is it just superficial, somehting darkening that area of his slime coat? Or does it look to be sinking in. Has he shown any other signs of HITH? Or had any Hex problems?

You probably have your answer right there. Hith can spread and often times it doesn't need to be white. I've seen plenty of Oscars get it where the holes started as dark indentations. Then got worse.


Hex as in Hexamita, a parasite that starts in the stomach and then can spread into the lateral line and head.

Treat for HITH, probably wouldn't hurt to do the Epson salt treatment that RD describes.

Lots of water changes will help,
What's your water change schedule.
What size tank
What's you water parameters

Idk what peramitors but in 2weeks when I get my service hours done Ima get a 220G there in a 75 right now

The guys covered everything.....I know you been treating for HITH, but this means you're not doing enough water changes. Bump it up to two or 3 per week now. It was suggested the 1st time as a possibility, so since weekly isn't doing the trick, start doing every 2 days or every other day.

Are you taking out 90% at a time? Do you have Metroplex or some form of Metronidazole?
