Black Bullhead Died.

My 10 year old catfish called it quits this morning, I'm sad that it was today. Length:15" 2.6Lbs 9"Girth 2 Beautiful Blue Eyes.

I'm pretty sure it died of natural causes? Nothing else can add up to its death, by the way what are there life expectancy? I have another 10 year old bullhead with blue eyes :)

Can anyone determine the sex of the bullhead?kind of think it was female.

Sorry to hear about your loss. 10 is a ripe old age for a bullhead, but your other fish may have a couple years yet. I don't know a good way to tell sex on these fish except to give 'em a squeeze during breeding season and see what comes out.
 
Thanks guys, seeing how the two never bred or I never saw I'd say they are either both male or both female the other one is slightly smaller so its definately male. My other bullhead seems to be mourning the lost by not hanging out at the waterfall in the koi pond where they both hung out at for hours. My koi are healthy I may get a new addition to my pond today not sure.
 
My other bullhead keeps acting weird, it keeps going up and looking for food I guess. I'm going to go buy him Kikari bloodworms, what other treats should I get the bull had that he will definately snap on? No Live Feeders, to many risk.
 
how long have the two been together? he could be looking for his comrad...
 
They came from the same parents, so they have been together since Fry. :(
I was only 7 when we got them. Its a sad loss for the both of us.
 
So this morning as I was getting ready for my soccer game, I went to check on my pond to admire my fish. And then the worst thing happened, My other catfish died, It was expected seeing how he was having odd behavior. Now both of my black bullheads are in fish heaven :(

Here he is, this picture was taken yesterday as he came up to where I was sitting as if he were saying goodbye :( what a sad week it was been I lost my two favorite catfish in the same week, both with blue eyes.

Here they are a few months ago in a holding tank as I filled the quarantine tank up for them, they hungout in there for atleast 10mins at most. I shall miss their eyes and they were loved... RIP Fishies :(
 
sorry for your losss...are they together with the koi, if so, you mentioned a new addition?

they were together with the kois, but the new additionswere ghost shrimp that have gone MIA or in hiding. I willget atank and colonize shrimp eventually.
