Does anyone ahve any of these.. I have seen brown and the silver ones. But I didnt know there was Black Clown Knife's
I have a silver with nice spotting, and I have a black ghost knife, but was at my LFS yesterday and he said he was getting in Black Clown Knife's.
I lookied them up, but not alot of pic's out there of them.
Are they not a common CK.
Post pic's of yours, Id like to see them.

thanks

From what I can tell, this will then not be a clown knife, but a featherback knifefish, notopterus notopterus. I'm not aware of any true clown knife (notopterus chitala) being black.

I looked that name up, and they are discribed like a CK but there are some differences. The head is different, not much of a nose on them like my CK. So that makes more since. They had them listed on his sheet as a Black Clown Knife, but Im betting they are a Featherhead. He asked me about them because he had never heard of them either. He is more of a Saltwater guy, so knows everything about saltwater, but he bought the shop last Jan. and he also took over some freshwater stuff, so he is learning all that. I help him alot on the freshwater side, but was confussed when he said Black Clown Knife, but we ordered one anyway to see what it looks like. So will be intresting to see it come in today.
thanks for the info..

Here is the pic I did find when I put in Black Clown Knife, they are with some BGK's, but I can see the head/nose area is different than my CK.

thanks again

In the picture you provided, you got 2 Notopterus Notopterus. They are pretty aggressive Knives. They grow to about 12"-14" N. Notopterus pretty much resembles Xenomystus Nigri but with a dorsal fin and with more attitude.
