I just finally bought a female convict. The pet store for whatever reason couldnt get them in so Iv had a male in a thirty gallon by himself as I patiently waited a month for one to finally come in. So then heres the problem, since I put the female in the male is showing alot of aggression. Is this normal? Im sure hes upset, hes had the whole tank to himself for so long but will he mello out and breed?

Shes been hiding way up by the filter, any time she comes out he throws a fit. She already got split fins

Yep, it's normal. If you give them places to hide (plants, rocks, wood, ceramic cylinder slightly larger than her) so they both feel safe, she'll be fine.

Once comfortable with each other, breeding could possibly happen within a month or so if she's 6mths+ old.

Add some Pimafix to the water to help her fins heal :)

move all the decor in your tank around, fill up any holes either of them have dug, turn off all the lights and see how they are tomorrow. if you destroy his house, maybe he will let her help build a new one...

I have a wall of rocks in there so I fortified the front with more rocks with caves that only she could fit in. that worked out really good. She came down from the filter. They are starting to relax a little more, some aggression but Im just glad to see her down were shes comfortable. Thanks for the help ^-^
