Hey guys my male black convict has just started to develop 2 red or orange bumps right on the side of his jaw. Anyone know what this may be?

starting of a infection from lip locking with your female just a guess

Kind of hard to say and can't really tell due to the quality of the pics. I would just really keep a close eye on him and look to see if it seems to worsen or be effecting him in any way. As a precaution you could QT or if there are not too many other tankmates you could start an early treatment in the current tank. Minor diseases/injuries are normally treated with increasing the tank temp to about 80 or 82 degrees and adding aquarium salt (1 Tablespoon per 5 gallons of water) to help heal and de-stress. Good luck.

Okay thanks I will do. I have my temp to 82 and I have added salt. Is there and other treatment I should consider. I would net him but I just don't wanna add anymore stress to him.

I guess if you want more advice we need to back up a second and answer some questions:

How long have you had the con? How big is it? How is it acting? What size tank is it in? What are the tankmates? What do you feed it? And have you added anything new to the tank recently?

But normally without for sure knowing what is going on I wouldn't recommend any other treatment other than maybe cut down on the amount of time the lights are on in the tank. This helps cut down stress a little.

I wouldn't also recommend any other treatment at this time because normally with all minor issues (which are most health issues with healthy fish) you can cure them with the increased water temp, salt, and time. Good luck and let us know what is going on.

Well he is being house with 3 female convicts 2 black and one pink. And 3 firemouths. He is prolly a little 2" and the other convicts range from 1" - 2" and my firemouths are prolly 2-3 inches and they are in a 55 long. I believe he paired up with the pink convict. At first I notices some aggression between my convicts and the firemouths but they have calmed down and I haven't seen any aggression from them. Also the only thing I have introduced into my tank is some ghost shrimp on occasion. I feed them frozen brine shrimp.
