Black Devil Wyckii catfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
very agressive and predatory. should not be kept with anything you hold dear, most definately just give this fish the whole tank to itself

I agree with Maverick also could be an issue if any filters, heaters, etc are in the tank.... anything will be investigated and attacked.... every your hands if your not careful.

yeah experience with a wyckiodes (not a wyckii) was enough to teach me a good lesson or two. They're pretty much the same, both of them, except with the wyckiodes getting bigger and having a red tail (hence the name Asian RTC)

my advice is......dont keep an 20" wyckii with a 9" arowana is all i can say.
was told they would be fine as the arowana is a good size and stays at the top. the wyckii had not touched the 2x synodontis both 9" or the green terror 5/6" and he hardly comes out of his pipe/cave, pretty much only half out when being hand fed.
however came home last night after having the aro for four days, and was gone.. no trace, checked the floor due to aro' reputation for jumping /houdini acts, but hefty wooden lid still on, contrays still in place and no sign of the aro on the floor. leaves me to one conclusion.......... bad bad wyckii.

i guess rookie mistake, take others warnings maverick has it right

am gutted, do love my wyckii, but wanted an aro for ages.

I had experience comtank a 70 cm wiyckii with 40 cm-50 cm mahseers, 40 cm asian aro, 80 cm channa maruliodes, 40 cm baramundi, 30-50 wallago leeris. Nothing bad happened. Perhaps due to big tank and most of tank mates were not bottom dweller. The only accident was some scratch in maruiliodes head in the beginning, maybe just to show him who's the king in the tank. Everything then went well

I just bought this guy from a local pet shop they told me that it was an Asian redtail cat, but I looked them up online to learn more about them because this is my first large catfish anyways it doesn't look like the typical pics of the Asian redtail cats so now I'm thinking this fella at the fish store sold me something else which is fine we love him ... he's so far very laid back & calm hasn't tried to eat anyone yet in the tank we'll see anyways I was wondering if someone could maybe tell me what they think he is ... He is about 12 inches right now & is all lack except a few white places on his under belly his tail has a very faint red color in it . Just wondering any info would be greatly appreciated THANKS everyone I'm new to this site so HELLO everyone from here in WV =) catfish.jpg
