My Male bd is breathing hard. Tested water ph 7.6 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 20. Have had him 10 days. I have divided him off from other tank mates. Added airstones to his side and a towel to keep tank dim. Any tips or suggestions would he appreciated. Attached is a video. I have moved out 3 fish, and added a tig this past week.

Dieselhybrid Dieselhybrid might know best

I am no expert and please dont take offense... But is he not maybe stressed out by the divider and towel over the tank
The space he is confined in (looks fairly small in the video)
If he came from a bigger tank, could this not be stressing him out?

I know gill flukes can cause heavy breathing as well

The thought ( that he could be unhappy) came to mind as you say the water is pristine and no signs of sickness

No offense taken. He is in a 16x30 space I could move the divider more. I am asking questions because I don't have the answers. As far as stressed he was breathing much worse before I sectioned him off it has slowed down but not back to normal. I added the towel to dim the light as alot of sun come thought and shines right there. This was suggested from a fairly experienced ray keeper whom I trust.
I am just trying to pinpoint a cause for this. I separated him in case the other fish were causing the stress. He has no Mark's or bites so I don't think there's fish harassed him. Just trying to eliminate factors that could cause stress.

MariaS MariaS as far as gill flukes I am not sure if he had then from the seller I received him July 14th. Or if it can be onset from stress sort of like ick. Not really sure. Just want my man to make it.

The main stress factor I can think of was I sold 3 rather large fish from the tank and added 1 large fish a tig. Outside of that tank pretty low key.

You can always do a water change to see if it helps.
