My male black diamond has turned kind of gray over the last week. My water parameters are good the only thing that registers is nitrates and that's around 40ppm about where it's always at. He was the last fish to go into this tank 7-8 months ago so I don't believe it's parasites. He's still eating well and is active. I did take one other ray out two weeks ago, a mature male. Could this be some sort of stress from having a buddy removed? He was fine the first week after the other male was removed. The other ray in the tank is a mature female and doesn't seem to be affected at all. Thanks

Firstly that is not a Pure BD, the spots are too big and perimeter spotting not right.
Most probably has some Hen in the mix which would explain the big spots and the black base going a little grey.
Shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Either way that is a lovely black ray. Hope those lovely spots grows with the ray for you.

Thank you for the kind words! I really love this little guy! His new "girlfriend" has been in quarantine for 6 weeks now. I think I'm going to put her in and see if his color comes back.
