black diamonds: do they morph at a younger age?

Here is one of the pups I've bred which is now with daland. :)

The first picture was taken when it was about 4.5 inches.

The second picture taken by daland shows the same ray at about 8 inches.

Notice the "glitter" in between the bigger spots? The spottings at the rims have also intensified.

I used to think that BDs morph when they are a bit older and larger, like my female(http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336937), but this young male has certainly changed my thinking.

Any comments? Experiences you'd like to share? :)

I have really experienced this with a couple of rays.

The second pic (before) is a male BD at 5" the first pic (after) is the SAME ray at 7".

These are captive bred from Mark H.

Hey thanks for chiming in! Those are awesome looking specimens from Mark!

It's very interesting isn't it, that they start morphing from such a young age?
