Alot more oddly. No eyes 150. Both eyes? 1200. Black lng?(when they appear) 300 to 500 is acerage. Never seen a black shorty but id luv to procure one

Wait, black longnose gars have been for sale before?!?! I'm going to have to have some money set aside for one of those should one turn up soon.
 
they show up a lot more (relatively speaking) during spawning season because many males (even some immature ones) will turn black or at least darker during that season. they will often revert to "normal" pattern after the season or when taken out of the natural spawning environment.
true melanistic gars do show up from time to time. either way, contact John (snookn) about black gars. outside of that, photos show up here and there, but they are rarely for sale--

After that comment bout without eyes I remembered that one time when I was bout 7 fishing in the Missouri with my dad we caught a almost solid black longnose gar with no eyes. We didn know what it was so we released it but now I know what it was. Thanks all :)
