So by circumstance I have two black ghost knifes in my 125. Wasn’t meant to be a permanent solution, but it worked so I kept them. A friend passed away and didn’t want to give it up.
I went to clean out one of my canister filters and found a baby black ghost knife living in it. I say baby, it’s about three inches long now. Anyone here ever breed BGK’s? Totally unexpected but extremely cool. From my research, very rare.

Wow! Congrats!
That’s amazing, I didn’t even know they could be bred in captivity!

Did you take it out of the canister yet?
I have not. I didn’t want to rush to do it when if you think about it; it’s lived there happily its whole life.
I want to get it out but have no where to put it. Adding a third to a 125 is just begging for problems. I am gonna go get a container I can put inside the tank. It is going to go to my brothers tank when he gets back in town. The one he had was about two feet long and recently passed. Old fish.

Congrats! I personally only read of one person having the same experience years ago. Extremely rare for them to breed in a aquarium.
