Hello - I recently purchased a BGK and this is the coolest fish I have ever seen. I have been doing a lot of research on them as I only want the best for my fish. I have created a couple caves and they seem to be doing well, but I was wondering if aquarium salt will hurt my knife due to not having any gills. I know they are sensitive to medications and wasn't sure if the same was true for salt.

Thanks,

Welcome to MFK. Glad you like your Knife.:D They don't really need salt, but if you add a little, it'll be fine. And it's best to keep only one Knife per tank.

just make sure he does not have to compete for food until he gets larger and a little more aggressive.. so many BGK are lost due to the fragile stage as babies..make sure he is eating good..do your water changes and he will thrive.. and congradulations.. mine is 15 inches now.. :D

Hello all, thanks for the comments! in the tank currently I have a goby dragon, 2 dalmation mollies, 2 zebras, 1 gold dust molly, 2 silver tip sharks, 4 silver dollars, 2 red belly barbs, and 1 tin foil barb.

I'm planning a nice fresh water 55 gal. with sand and some caves with tunnels (like my current 45 gal) for one of the bgk's, and leave the other bgk in my 45 gal.

I also just picked up a hexagon 40 that I'm planning to make brackish to accomidate the dragon and silver tip sharks better and add something cool like monos or puffers...dunno

anyone got some words of wisdom for a brackish set up?
