I am hoping to raise 3inch tow black ghost knife fish in a 3*1*1feet tank. There also 4 medium size angles,8 platies and 8 serphy tetras.
1.Can DGK adapt with this fish?
2.Is that true DGK are aggressive and we can't raise tow DGK together?
PLEASE I need reply soon.:screwy:

They are predatory...... I have 2- 10" BGK in a 200G tank they have picked out their territories. They squabble from time to time.no harm no foul...... they eat rosies reds, earthworms , pellets.. and have incredible appetites. I'd keep anything they can eat or think they can eat out of their way.:naughty:

Relocate your platies and tetras first. I never had issues combining angels with BGKs before.

I've requested to have your thread moved in Knifefish section.:)

Your BGK should be fine with the angels. I have a 8 to 9 inch BGK and a 6 incher. They're in different tanks, but the larger one is slightly territorial and hangs out in a cave. If another fish comes near his cave, depending on his mood, he will often chase them away. Other times, he won't. The smaller BGK is not territorial, at all.

yeah, make sure you have at least two adequate hiding caves or tubes for them. also I recommend you watch them at night, when your tank lights are off, thats when you really start to see their true behaviors. I found mine to be very active and like others have said, the BGK will eat a wide variety of foods, right out of your hands!

good luck and enjoy these great fish.

it will need a bigger tank at some point, but i have had them with all the above...depending on you knife it might be fine with smaller fish and it might eat them...mine love to eat neons...

Ive heard the tiny electrical current they produce in order to hunt can annoy each other but i dont think it would be too stressfull as long as they have their own areas in the tank. they have deceptivly large mouths (catch these guys 'yawning' and youll see exactly what they can fit down there) ive heard of them getting on fine with smaller fish when raised with them but i wouldnt risk it
