A couple days ago i purchased a 3" black ghost knife. he is in a quarantine tank.

I've been having trouble getting him to eat. He goes around, and acts like he's trying to find food, but doesn't seem to be able to find any of the food i put in. I've gotten him to take a few bites from a pile of shrimp pellets, but that's about it. Is there anything i can put in there that he will have an easier time finding?

I've even dangled a small worm in his face. he tried to eat it, but just accidentally bit me instead.

They often get a little disoriented in a new tank for a little while. If left alone and kept dark and quiet he should figure it out.

ya know i wouldn't worry too much about it, when i first got my BGK i didn't think he was eating but it turns out he was it is just difficult too see, but i did notice after a few days in my tank he start accepting more food! hes probably fine

what time are you feeding your knife? knifefish are nocturnal so your best bet is to feed them at lights out and he should eat when the lights get turned off. my BGKs go crazy for bloodworms so you can try those. BGKs are also practically blind and use an electrical field around them to navigate and feed so you may see the BGK pass a piece of food, back up and then eat it.

Try Bloodworms. I usually have good luck with Knives with Bloodworms. Be patient. Knives usually take a week or two to adjust.

BGKs are pretty much blind and cant find really anything...but the tank is also new to it so just try and let em eat bloodworms before anything it might work...

if its a bare bottom tank, smash a freezedried tubifix worm cube against the bottom of the glass. it will slowly fall apart while he nips at it
