I have two black ghost knifes, but one's fin looks "split" in multiple places. I was told it is from stress of the other knife harassing him. Could this be true? should I re-home the larger ghost? Or could this be a different issue that I need to look into?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. :)

The general consensus is that BGKs cannot be housed together… and most people’s experience supports this (myself included)… though there have been a few people report keeping them together long term without problems…

Be aware that BGKs are “scaless fish” and some common medications are harmful to them… including salt, or medications with a salt content…

I HAD 2 BGK's. One is about 7 inches and had a little bit of girth. The other WAS about 3-4 and slim. The larger BGK ran the other ragged. I eventually took the smaller one out and placed him in another tank. He did not make it. He'd been beaten up and starved due to always being chased by the larger. Don't do it. It's weird because clowns and royals can be together. I have several that do well, but BGK's are different in that respect.

ok thanks. I do not have another tank to separate them at the moment, but I will be sure to remove one. I will find a good home for him, and the smaller one should recover fine. He has had access to food and eats well, he just must be stressed about being chased by the bulkier BGK. I appreciate it. thank you guys. :)

just wondering, did you introduce the fish at the same time, and if so, how large were they?

also, you could put a tank divider until you find a good home for one of them.
