I was wondering what other type of fish would go peacefully in my black ghost knife tank im getting the baby ghost on friday and he has to be in a 20g tank for a coupple of weeks untill i get the 55g tank and get the cycle started. I was thinking of putting in a electric yellow cichlid and a zebra pleco becuse of the colors but are unsure if they would be a good pick. Ive asked a couple fish stores but I dont know of there being honest or if they just want to sell me a fish. Any advise would be great. Thanks.

you need a you a 75 gallon tank for a single black ghost knife you need a 120 gallon plus tank to have tank mates sorry you can not fit one. you could get an oscar chiclid or a jack dempsey chiclid in a 55 gallon tank but you chold only have one Oscar or jack dempsey is a 55 gallon tank.

I have to agree with above statement, 75g for a single BGK. As for the other two fish you mentioned, the "electric yellow" I'm guessing is an african cichlid of some sort. If it is, I wouldn't. African cichlids are pretty agressive, and will undoubtedly pick on the bgk. The Zebra pleco would be ok; they're actually one of my favourite plecos, but do you have even the slightest idea of how much just one fish costs?! As nice as they are, I wouldn't recommend them if you're just starting out. Go with something a little less demanding. Don't take it personally, I'm just trying to help.

Not necessarily, a baby black ghost knife will be fine in a 20g until he gets his 55g cycled. But eventually it will need to be housed in a bigger tank, it can't live in a 55g its whole life unless maybe you want to stunt its growth and give it an unhappy life.

Also, I don't suggest you get an electric yellow cichlid...they are an african cichlid and have a semi-aggressive temperament and they will most likely harass your BGK. Good tankmates for your BGK would be fish that are fairly peaceful like angels and gouramis.

I know the zebra plecos are alot but I have a friend that was going to sell me a pleco and a yello and its ok I dont take offend Its advice and I will take any advice but after doing research there are alot of people that have there ghost in a 55g tank.

I also realize that I posted this in the wrong area sorry bout that guys.

you should get chiclids.

He's looking for fish that will be good with his BGK. Cichlids are not very good with knife fish. Most cichlids have semi agg or agg temperament. The only cichlid that I could think of right now and would maybe work would be a keyhole cichlid.
