No, a 55 gallon tank Is nowhere near the size for a BGK, they need a bare minimum of 120 gallons and even then the only reason they can fit in a 120 is because they're not too active, they grow up to 20". Plus the BGK would quickly outgrow the red tail shark and it would eat it when the tank lights go out.
 
They would be good if they we're babies I have my 3-4" BGK in my 45 right now so yes for a short amount of time like a year or so maybe a bit less but as soon as it hits 6" get it a bigger tank they can grow to 2 feet but tht could take 3-4 years, mine is so freindly he swims up to my hand and cleans it and he will only eat food from my hand if I drop food by his cave he swims to my hand to pick it up and eat it
