Thanks... I'm on well water and have water softener. Should I still add add salt on top of what's already in my water?salt at 1tbsp/2gal to stimulate slime coat generation & reduce risk of bacterial infection. Lots of clean water. time
Thanks no lights on the tank and it's eating. Will keep up with the WCDim lights and can add salt , 1 tsp per g. Keep the water pristine. Make sure it’s eating. Provide a hideout for it to stay in.
What is the composition of your well water - gh/kh ? Well water can be liquid rock in a lot of places if so i would not add additional salt; also for god sake don't run it through a water softner system; that is just yucky water. Either use ro water (or distill water); mix it with ro water/distill water or use it straight and next time go for fishes that live in whatever type of well water you have (i/m assuming it is liquid rock but maybe you live somewhere with soft well water).Thanks... Do you know the kh and gh ? SA fishes adore soft water - the softer the better - since i've built an ro system i keep all of sa fishes around gh 3 kh 1; and the more specialize fishes like cupido in water closer to tds 80 (gh 1 kh nearly 0); i do have a black ghost knife so i'm curious what mauled your fish - the only thing i have that could actually maw him is one of the larger clown loaches - none of the larger cicilhd in the tank can get under the wood work where he spends most of his time.I honestly got out of fish keeping cuz I was worried about the well water and this was about 5 years ago and then I got back into it this year so all fish have been doing very well since I got back into it in February of 2024. Yeah basically I have soft water so everything has been fine
