Q: has anybody ever seen their BGK "resting" within a tube/habitat at a positive buoyancy, IE floating flat against the top of the tube?
Mine (one of three) is just now inside a perspex tube, not moving & "lying" on the inside-upper face of the tube. If I walk past/disturb he/she waves fins a bit & uprights, then goes back to that position. Otherwise looks fine, but I've not seen nor heard of this before, so:

Am I looking at a swim-bladder issue or a not-abnormal resting condition/position?

Water is relatively new with 100% refill with (usual) rainwater 3days ago. No other fish showing any sort of issue.

fish apparently not visibly stressed nor panting, though still there a few hours on. Uprights & moves back & forth a bit, maybe looks uncomfortable or putting particular effort but they always look like that, then floats back into position lying on on his/her side at top of tube.
Buoyancy seems to be pretty strong but no particular/visible bloating, just the usual tummy-paunch.

Thoughts?
Normal/forget it, sea-salt, epsom salts or watch & see?

I think watch and see. It’s not something I have witnessed but knowing knives it’s also not something I wouldn’t dismiss as being normal. Ie. Nothing much like this surprises me with them. They like to be in tight spaces and equally like to be in dark spaces so maybe the top of the pipe fits the bill best vs the sides?

that's my hope, that the pipe is transparent/bright & inadequately snug over a light/white oats sand, so the response is to float up towards the darker overhanging plants. Fingers crossed for such triviality.

They tend to not use this pipe but certainly have before when tank was bare-bottom, vibrating-uncomfortable but lying on the bottom. This time the fish looks pretty relaxed, just elevated.
