Is this the sand you sweep into the cracks on cobblestone walks or brick walkways?

yes it is

I don't have more detail. I am looking at a price list I got from the local landscaping company.

Are there questions I should ask them??

thanks

If it actually ground granite is is very inert in water.

There was a product that was similar to this that was made up of ground furnace slag (a bi-product of steel making). This stuff is very harmful for aquatic life.

Inert:
non-reactive, chemically stable materials that are not easily decomposed; has no pH value

Find out for sure what this product is made of...
if it is indeed pure granite I would say it is ok, as I have granite in my tank now, with no ill effects...
