Over the past few weeks ive notice blackhair alge starting to grow on most of my plants on left side. Ive cut the lights for two weeks and havent notice any change in the blckhair. The right side (heater filter intake n out) has no alge. Its clear. So what should i do here? Blackout with trashbags or move that filter intake to the leftside? No idea why im getting this problem

Blackouts won't kill BBA. Do you have plants? Manual removal is the fastest. It's caused by fluctuating CO2 levels. How often do you change your water? Do you have good circulation in the tank?

Tap water contains dissolved CO2 which degasses in your aquarium. If you slack on water changes or have poor water flow, the CO2 introduced during a water change can cause algae outbreaks.

This is what has been attacking my tank... its attact to everything log rocks and plants besides the one that are growing fast... how can i get rid of it.... there to much to remove it peace by peace unless i scrap all my plants but a few n start over.

I had the same problem in my 20G planted and added a pair of florida flagfish, no more algae problem they destroyed the stuff in about a 3 day period. Plants are back to looking nice and green. Oh and started doing water changes twice a week.

Serously, up your circulation. CO2 is a well mixed gas in the atmosphere, but in water it's rather light and as such, outgasses very quickly. If your circulation is low, or your surface agitation is high you can see half and half problems like this.

Since you only have algae on one half of your tank I have to ask, are you running a co2 reactor on the clean side and not on the other side? If so, try moving your reactor to the other side first and give it a week or two and you should see a change, probably slight.

If you move your filter intake to the other side you'll draw more water from the clean side over, however, you also run the risk of firing the BBA all over your tank and contaminating your filter media, changing the problem from localized to systemic.

Umm i moved the CO2 Diffuser to the right sidewall and the intake to the filter in on the right backwall.... the outtake is on the leftsidewall blowing down the tank.... Its still the same its been two weeks with this set up and nothing change... ill add another powerhead but i have to look for new stickes for it.... the old ones dried out...

When I had black hair algae all over my plants, i added four mollies and it was gone in less than a week. i've had florida flag fish as well, but not during a black-hair epidemic. i would not be surprised if those voracious eaters would do the trick (except that they're excrement factories!)
