Has anyone ever kept a Black-knobbed Map Turtle (Graptemys nigrinoda nigrinoda)? I found one while doing a study on the Mobile River in South Alabama. It looks cool with the big black knobbes on its shell. I need some info on the captive care of the guys.

ive had a few.. just like any other water turtle.. need land. basking lights.. eat fish. pellets, all the regular this a res or any other map turtle would eat;).. you took it out of its natural habitat?

More like a rescue. It was sucked into the intake of a power plant. The little guy seems a little weak and I wanted to make sure he is able to suvive when I release him back into the wild. I am really not that interested in keeping turtles. It just bothers me that this turtle had its survivability compromised due to human impact.

Most areas have a local wildlife rehab center. They usually have on staff vets and adequate caging, lights, food etc.

I didn't think about a rehab center. Thanks demandor, that's a good idea.
