black nasty

At 6"-7" it has gone thru some of the most critical and dangerous times of its life, because most haitiensus that die, do it in the first few months, because that time is the period when they are most sensitive.
But even as adults they can be very sensitive to degraded water quality.
So to me it would not be a bad price(although I've seen them for less) but not often.
However, haits are not a community species, so if you are intending to put it in a community tank of other cichlids, it may be a waste of money. If it can't kill its tank mates, it often gets very stressed out, to the point that it may succumb to disease. They are the lone endemic cichlid on the island of Hispaniola so are not evolved to play well with others.
If you are going to keep it alone, or as a mate for another hait, it may be another story.
Haitiensus also need somewhat higher temps than many other cichlids (mid to high 80s).
Feed sparingly, with a good algae based pellet, they are omnivores so going heavy of protein can lead intestinal maladies, if the gut is not purged with fiber.
I kept a pair in a 150 gal tank for many years without problems, and as adults they made the tank seem tiny.

They are a fabulous species to keep, if you give them enough space, and if you do lots of water changes to maintain the highest quality water, they will live a long time.
I recommend every other day 30-40% water changes on an adult haitiensus tank.
