hey.....i gt to of em in my pond......and i was wonderin y everybody hates em sooo much....any ideas?

I don't think it is that people hate them so much, it is that people hate seeing them for sale all of the time and then knowing that most of them are going to end up in small tanks and suffer.
Another thing is that they are very common and anybody could get one if they wanted. If they were less common I'm sure every body would want one.
I like them and would buy a few but I don't have any tank nearly big enough to keep one comfortable.
Can you get some pictures of yours in the pond.

its tough....cuz....they are black....and the pond walls are black....i can hardly see'em myself....thats why i can nvr post pics....
i almost bought 5 red bellies last night bu the guy at petco wouldnt acknowledge that i was there so i walked out with nothin

yea i don't think people hate pacus......it's just pet stores sell them like goldfish and they sell them to anybody........the problem is they can end up in a small tank with someone who knows nothing about them......i personally like them a lot i have two redbellies............
Being a piranha guy I just think they are some fugly mofos! They kind of have the body/color of a P, but their heads are retarded and weak looking!
They just get so huge! A friend of mine just had a 24" one jump out of a 300 gallon and it passed away.
I think they are extremely ugly and stupid.
dont take that the wrong way though. I think they are "stupid" as in, brainless.
I dont think they are a stupid fish for someone to own. They could bring me happiness by watching them swim, and i would become attached to them.
But I choose not to because there are so many other fish out there that are large, but much more beautiful and much more intelligent.
I love ALL fish, regardless. Even feeder fish.
