i dont know if theres anything wrong and my dad keeps saying there is but if my parrots are turning black is there something wrong with them...i think its the lava rocks heh
I was rereading a couple articles on blackspot disease and got sidetracked into a few threads on Blood Parrot Black Spot, this is a common occurance with bloodparrots, It is apparently more a syndrome than a disease. It shows up most often when the fish are under stress from poor water quality but sometimes at random and often when the fish are ready to breed. It is not "blackspot" disease (the digenetic flukes) and the anti-parasite meds that are used for that don't help here. There is a visible difference in that the flukes are small (1-2 mm) distinct spots just under the skin and bloodparrot black spots are larger and more randomly shaped. There is some speculation that it is a virus,(the fish version of cold sores). I can find no record of it actually harming the fish.
