Hi, I am interested in getting a few Black Pirahnas. What can they be kept with, if there is anything? I would like possibly 6 (or maybe less), with a few plecos and Neon Tetras. I have heard they have to be kept singly though. I would be putting them in a 270 that I have ordered. It is 72" long, 36" wide and 24" tall. If you don't think Black Pirahna would be a good idea, what are some other cool pirahnas that I could keep together with these other fish? Thanks for your replies. Kramer.

any other fish you keep with piranha will be a potential meal so don't get too attach to those fish. as for keeping multiple black piranhas together, I would advise not to waste your money until you get more experience with piranha before trying cohab them. at baby size it'll be fine but not in the long run.
if you have the money get one big rhombeus (12"+) or get a big shoal of pygocentrus. cariba season should be around the corner and they are awesome fish to have.

i agree caribe are very very awesome fish:drool:. if i were you thats exactly what i would be putting in my 270. a shoal of rhoms... id nix that one

Thanks everyone. Could you give me some information on caribe, as I don't think I will be getting black.

there are Serrasalmus species you can cohab pretty easily. S. maculatus, or S. geryi are pretty commonly cohabed. It can be REALLY expensive to do though.

with Serra Mac, its hit or miss, some have luck, some don't. pygo will be easier and once you have more experience with piranha then try serra cohab.
