Im getting ready to put together a 75gallon tank for a 2in black piranha im going to buy and i was wondering if anyone has some good tank setup designs or any info about them that could help me.....thanks for the help

black piranah! i would go with natural or black sand a nice big piece of driftwood. Maby a few crawfish for the fish heads that are left behind.

I would put it in a grow out tank tank for a year or two if you have a smaller tank and you want to use the 75 for something else.

whats the min size tank recomended for a black piranha?

it all depends, i have a 9 inch blue diamond rhom waiting for his 210 stand to finish being built then he goes in a 210. i have a 6.5 inch ive grown from 4.5 in 8 months he lives in a 60. it really all depends. alot of people say im crazy for dedicating a 210 to one fish but its my prized fish. but i personally wouldnt put a rhom even a 2 inch rhom in anything smaller than a 40 breeder. i also wouldnt buy a 2 inch rhom unless i was going to document its growth rate every month.that would be tight to put a 2 inch rhom in a 75 and document it month to month so you can show people just how long it takes to reach 8 inch.

for the guy wondering about how to set up his 75. if i were you i would set it up with some drift wood on one end of the tank then all open space with a power head on the other ( koralia 4) so he has lots of swimming space. i would also start of with a 4 inch rhom or bigger but nothing over 7 or 8 because imo it will outgrow your 75 quickly with good feeding and water changes. there slow growers but not too slow. her is my rhom ( big pokeys) tank this is how i think you should set it up just because ive seen so much growth length and width. whatever you decide to do im really glad you have a 75 for your rhom. its nice to see people who will dedicate a big tank to one fish such as myself good luck my friend.

and sorry you cant see big pokey hes very very camera shy.

Dont listen to snap about the fish heads and feeding live. Feed it on shrimp, tilapia, mussels, and a variety of other white fish. Also try to get it on pellets as soon as possible. Getting him to accept a variety early will make it cheaper whens he is bigger and healthier then feeding live.

Also everything frontos said above me is great info. Although I keep my juvy rhom in a 29 for the time being, if you have the large tank to dedicate to your black thats great.

As far as setup I suggest some driftwood and live plants if you have a green thumb. One of the best tanks I have seen in person was someone from piranha-furys. He had a 7-8 inch rhom in a full planted tank. The fish looked amazing in it.
Like frontos said, put the driftwood and bigger plants on one side and allow a powerhead with a lot of swimming room on the other side with foreground and cover plants on that side.
