I am resealing a 33 gal right now, the tank came with the surround but it has a few cracks and such and it slides right off the aquarium easily. I was wondering if it is really necessary? i was thinking of setting this tank up a little differently with the glass tops countersunk a bit and such. the plastic surround on the bottom will stay tho. if anyone has any feedback or ideas that would be great

20g and smaller hold together without,a 55 g will bow and pop apart witout the frame 33g hard to say

IMHO re-set the frame on the 33.

especially if it might get bumped; the frame certainly helps with point impacts;

safer for the tank & you.

again; this is just my humble opinion...

best of luck with your choice...

I'd re-attach it if was me. It will look like a lot more water than it really is on the floor.

Went against what everyone said and thought id try it, i bought the tank for 30 dollars, so i thought if i breaks testing it then it if anything it will just be funny. i put corner braces on each corner and two braces in the middle, it has been sitting outside all day in the sun and wind and it is still good.
thought id post some pics to see if it might give other people ideas ill post pics when i get the tank all set up and planted, have to fab/weld up a stand on monday before i can do anything else.

i was gonna suggest a glass brace in the middle. i think you didn't need the corner braces. . . but better safe than sorry. i wouldn't worry one bit about the way you have it set up now, nice job.

Nice job.
