Does this exist? Who makes it? Why can't I find any?

not that we can find. I use 3Ms black quartz.... we have a connection in Chicago that can get a good price on it but any pool store can get it ..... 30.00 for 50 pounds

They do not make a black Pool Filter Sand... the best options I've found are 3M (best option although expensive) or looking to see what sand blasting materials you have available locally (not all sandblasting materials will be suitable aquarium use so do your homework).

I have some black blasting material but it says it is coal slag, I have found mixed opinions on whether coal slag is safe for fish...

I got it at Menards for my Blast cabinet, I'll check Lowes and Home Depot today to see what their blast media is made from.

I just purchased some reg brown quartz filter sand today, 50 lbs for $7.49, I thought is was an economical option.

Yeah. I haven't seen anything but blonde sand.

BTW, my red s-grade was $20 a bag and my black t-grade was almost $25
