I am in the process of researching rays to buy when my temensis grow big enough to hold their own in my 560gal and vamptrev is raffling off a black ray before the tems are big enough so I have a couple of questions before i buy tickets.

Is a 5'' black ray compatible with 3 temensis that are in the 6'' to7'' range?

How long would it be before it would outgrow a 18'' wide 100gal tank?

Are rays any harder to pellet train than cichla?

The only other tank I have open right now is a 29gal but I would not put a 5'' ray in a tank that small even if it was just temporarily.

I dont know about bass growing faster than rays. I have had both and once rays start growing they can get big fast. Hybrids seem to grow especially fast too and if I am not mistaken the raffle is for a leo/hen hybrid.

Temensis are the fastest growing in the cichla family. mine have grown from 1-1/2'' to 6-1/2'' in three months.

I am actually going to move my rays possibly w/ my smaller pbass bcuz bass grow so fast. My rays eat pellets, live grass shrimp, but they absolutely love tilapia that I cut up into little pieces once or twice a week and it's cheap too. We also use repashy superfoods meatpie that we got at ACA CONVENTION and they tear that up as well. So cool when they eat bro.

Does your friend still have those motoro's that he will be selling?

From the responses I am getting so far I think I will just take a chance and buy some tickets.

The only thing I would worry about is the bass letting any food pass them and getting to ray. Once they start eating good though, ray will be fine. I just threw a 8" Leo to the wolves in my 750g because I needed her 180g grow out tank for something special. All the fish range from 14-28". Including a 16" male ray. Within hours she was mixing it up for food with the best of them. Rays are not as fragile as many think

The thing that usually aggravates me about my tems is that they refuse to eat anything that does not float but that would be a good thing if I was to get a ray.
