Black rays maturity
hi,
i have a pair of potamotrygon henlei, wild caught. My question is if size matters in the maturity process?
my male henlei is around 35cm disk size and the female is about 30cm. When i got them they were about the size of 20 cm in disk, i would guess they were max 1 year then? and ive had them for 2 years now, id guess they are 3 now. The males claspers are still tiny, ive seen a little improvment from 1 cm too around 2 cms now.
i know that this question has poped up many times in the forum, but i tought you can post your experience in maturity time range of the black rays here and also if there is any tips in faster maturity if possible.

cheers!

I have seen from personal experience where a 12" import took nearly 9 additional years to mature to breeding.

ive seen smaller leos breed then my bigger rays that havnt i dont think size matters more age

I have heard from some that a mature female will "encourage" a males claspers to mature. It all depends on the rays really, I have heard a ton of people say at least 5 years but I have also seen first hand people breeding rays that where 3 years old or younger.

Some rays are also just more well "hung" than others :)
