I've heard of rope fish, not "black" ones... sounds like a marketing ploy or something...

^ I agree. I suppose its possible that its some cool new melanistic morph of the normal ropefish, but I've certainly never heard of it. More likely its just a normal rope they're trying to make sound more interesting.

Now, if you did see them in person & they were indeed black, pick a few up and I'm sure you'll have no problem selling them on here :D

It's probably just a nickname they tacked on to some dark green Ropefish.

I couldn't find them on the site, but if I remember correctly, they're actually caecilians. Not ropefish at all.

I saw a listing for them on another website but they had the same stock photo of the normal ropefish

The same story we discussed here on a german forum also.

I asked that question cause i ve got some guys out of Nigeria near Benin City an the time they saw my ropefishes they start to laugh cause for them it s like Hot Dog.
They grill it and eat it finish.
And trew this discussion they where searching for black ones.
They asked me weather I know them or not.

I didn`t know them.

My guys out of Benin City are in the opinion that both colours are caught together.
Both you can meet after and during raining crossing the gravel and grass out of the water.
And the taste is also the same.
But they never show me an picture.

But I trust them cause never ever before i heard about black rope fishes.
And now I m reading here and i start to laugh

Has anyone some Idea??
