Thinking about going with 3m coorquarts black sand and a black back, anyone already have this setup with pictures so i can see how it looks.

Here's one of mine several years ago. But I read on their websight that 3M quit making ColorQuartz.

Thats my tank in the link above. It definitely makes the tank darker, so good lights are a plus...mine come this week. The poop is more noticeable on top of it though. I need to get somethign for my tank that will get the poop up and into the overflows.

3m colorquartz has been discontinued, but many distributors still have it and lots of it. The guy I got mine from said he had a half million pounds of it in various colors and laughed when I only wanted 300 pounds. You can find a 3m distributor on 3m's website.

I used to have black sand and a black background. Depending on the fish you want to keep, it can be too dark. I had a Chinese Perch that just disappeared from the front view. It would always stay in the back, but I couldn't see him unless I looked at the side to see exactly where he was. However, I had a Silver Arowana in there that looked great. Dats and Pbass were okay in there, GT looked good, etc. Anything light or with a lot of color will surely look good in a blacked out tank.
