I've got black sand and I love it. It's good stuff. I have 3M ColorQuartz S Grade. S Grade is the smaller size grains. I've also used the T Grade (larger size grains) before and it won't get sucked up in a python. The S Grade can but it's pretty easy not to.

They have a distributer in my city. I can pick it up from a warehouse. You probably wouldn't want to get it shipped, it would be expensive. You may try contacting pool builders and sand blasting businesses. They use it sometimes.

This is where I got it...

You might could also call them and see if they know anyone in your area that sells it.

***EDITED TO ADD***
I've also got black gravel and I very much prefer the black sand.

So this is the 3m stuff rite?

Yes. The 55g has the Tgrade and the 360g has the Sgrade (you can't tell the difference without a closeup).
