i wqas wondering if anyone had any black sand tanks
i have some questions-
1. are they hard to keep?
2. would peacock bass and a silver arro cover it in poop??
3. is the poop more noticable with black sand?
4. how often do you clean it and how?
please show some pics :)

1) no different to other sand tanks... there are varying particle size of black sand too.
2) as much as any other substrate
3) I think it is less noticable with black than lighter shades, but it's still there I guess.
4) use a gravel vac when doing water changes, depending on the courseness will depend on how you do it.

I will tell you that the black "Moon" sand is a pain to clean when you first get it, just put a bag in my tank. stained the hell out of the tub and my hands. ps dawn dish soap is your friend.

lol thanks

black sand is very very nice. if you're really worried about poop, get some carpeting plants to buy you a little time before seeing the poop makes you wanna clean it.

ive used black sand forever with my cichlids and its super easy cleaning. all the crap settles in one corner of the tank and the rest looks great. just suck up the corner and its nearly spotless. the fish show awesome color too

Flourite just came out with a black version....
