Hey Fellow Fish Keepers,
I was looking to spice up my tank and get some black sand for it to give it that evil im an oscar and i wanna eat feeder fish look. Other than the internet which charges more to ship the sand than to buy it, Home Depot, Lowes, and Petsmart do you recommend for getting some black sand. And when i do get it should i remove all the fish before adding or should i just be really careful?

yea i wanna ask the same question because i have been looking to do the exact same thing, i have a bichir and bp and this big round gravel substrate so i wated to switch to a sand so hopefully someone can help with the best place to buy and easiety way to switch substrates.

Call this place and see if they have a distributor in your area. If they do, you pay them and pick it up at your local distributor with no shipping charges involved.

When you get it, it has to be rinsed really well. Wear some rubber golves when rinsing. The black will get on your hands.

The 3M ColorQuartz looks awesome in black. They have T grade and S grade. The T grade is a little larger and won't get sucked up in a python. I added the sand to the tank without fish. But, I don't see why you couldn't do it with the fish in the tank either, just don't bury any, lol.:)
