black sand

i just put black sand in aquarium and water is very cloudy and dark cant hardly see water does the black sand make the water look dark or is their something wrong

PM a mod and have them move this to the correct area, probably aquascaping...

Did you thouroughly wash and rinse the sand first? What type of sand is it?(brand, is the sand ment for something else.)

Even if you wash and rinse the sand, your water will still cloud slightly for a few hours. let it settle or add a VERY fine filtering pad to try and remove these tiny particals.

Give it a little bit of time for the sand to settle down. I have black sand and it's awesome except that freshly laid crap is very visible before and after a water change
