I took my black shark out of my pond during maintenance to get a measurement and take a few pics and noticed lots of reddish scales on it. Is this a normal thing with age or is something wrong with it? 1371069

Many of these cyprinids when young, show the dramatic colors we see in aquariums (the high fin shark for example, or tin foil barbs) but as they grow fade, and lose those young intense dramatic colors, and become silver (much like the carp they are related to) so this color change is quite normal .
The darker intense colors help them blend in, in shallow water, planted surroundings as juvie, when older and move to more open water, silver is more effective against predators.
