Does anyone have any info on these guys... I got one and think I will be returning him or her .. it seems to be very aggressive as far as wanting to claim the middle of the tank.. gee .. a 135 gal and a little fish just 2" can be such a bully. Any info on these guys would be appreciated. Thanks

Well to make it simple you need MORE BALAS!!! They are a schooling fish and feel more comfortable in groups and that also helps reduce the aggressiveness towards other fish. i would probably get like 2-3 more, maybe even more just depending on what you have in the tank.

I have 9 balas in there already and getting 10 ID sharks at the end of the week.. of course over the next 2-3 yrs I will end up with just 3-4 of each ... but when you are paying $1.88 for one shark and no tax. regular price being $10... and also taking the chance of looseing a few of them.. I'm going to get quite a few of them to start with. My question was info on the black shark.. I can't find anything about them anywhere's.

Okay. I know what you mean now.. some people call the bala sharks,, black finned or black tipped shark.. I call them balas.. but the black shark is another one all different.. completely black..and a pain in the :swear:

black sharks are nasty. there's a video somewhere on this site of a black shark beating the crap out of an oscar of equal size. these things get massive. check the photo lounge too.

Blck sharks get very big. Thats about all I know though.

Ya.. I know they get big.. but just wanted to know about their attutude.. think I will just return this guy before I start loosing my other sharks due to stress caused by him..

I had a black shark that was really mean, especially with my Prochilodus. they were constantly dogfighting around. It made most tank inhabitants flee away (usually with thorny or split fins) when they got a bit closer. This fish faced even my Cichla temensis. What an agressive mutha******! my 0.02 ;)

Best regards.

Daniel.
