Well last Sunday after doing a water change and cleaning the exterior of my 150 gallon, I discovered a slow leak:irked: Fearing it could turn into a disaster I decided to breakdown the tank down and I moved my 16" silver aro in with my 11-12" black.

For about 4 hours they seemed to co-exist together very well. Then suddenly the silver became quite aggressive, chasing and biting the black. So I had to move a few fish in my other tanks and now my poor silver is now hanging out in a 85 gallon tank.

I am resealing the 150g, but I found a deal for a 180g for $225 and I'm picking it up tomorrow morning. So within a week or so I hope to have him in the 180g.

How come the silver got aggressive? I do not know.

How come I moved the silver to the 85g? I did not want to wake up in the morning with a dead Black arowana.

How come I moved the silver instead of the smaller black? Because I figured there was no reason to stress both aros with moves and then to do it again when the 150 or 180g was ready.

How come there is a slow leak? I beleive there is a small hole in the silicone.

How come so many answers? I was not sure what your "how come?" was refering too.:D

Sorry. I am so stupid today.. Hectic week, it was! How come, because i mix thm ( you can see my pisx posted today ) and have no sign, at all, of agression... Youi needmore than 2, my friend!

man that blows bderick. give it time and try out the divider. that way they share the same waters, jus can't attack eachother so maybe they can get used to eachothers presence? its worth a shot. ill be trying it with my lei/silver combo. hopefully we can both succeed :)

I don't think his goal was to have them coexist. He did it out of necessity!
Reguardless.....that would cut space in half or give another option for the tank.;)

his goal is to get them to coexist eventually, he didn't put them together thinkin they were gonna fight. necessity at the time, maybe.

Just to clear things up. This atempt was out of necessity sorta, since I had to move the silver anyhow I figured I'd give it a try. Eventually my plans are to have a 375 gallons tank from glasscages.com (96" x 36" x 25"), I don't beleive the floor joists in my house will support that weight though. I will be modifying a wall in my house so that the tank will actually sit over the foundation and the slab on grade in the garage. At that point they will need to co-exist. Possibly I will have to add one or two more, either silvers or blacks.

There is a possibility that my silver was just establishing himself as boss in a new environment. Since I had to work the next four days and would not be able to monitor them 24/7, I did not want to risk losing the black so I moved the silver.

For the few hours they were okay together it was great watching them swim together. I will hope for the best when I try again in a few months.

good luck with it bderick, it will be an awesome sight. watching my 2 silvers and meilings silver swim around together is so fun to watch.
