Black Snakehead???

While I was at school today my mom bought me a fish from a petstore she visited to get food for my dog, she says the pet store called it a "Black Snakehead" and she bought it because she knows I really like them but have never owned one. Is there even such a thing as a black snakehead because I didnt think there was, also why would a petstore carry them if they were illegal, and how big can this guy get I would think no more then a silver aro so he could go in the same tank with them as they grew right? Heres a pic tell me what you think it is because I really am not sure


Hes about 4 inches right now and eating rosy reds already
If it really is a snakehead should I return it? could someone please shed some light on this, thanks

That is an araipima gigas, grows large and grows quick, be prepared to throw it into your swimming pool in a few years

are you sure because it doesnt have the flat slope like head of an arapaima and it doesnt have the red spots on the tail

that is 100% arapaima gigas. get rid of it -quickly
juveniles don't have the same markings or physical features as the adults for the most part.

those things(arapaima) get like 7-10 feet long and a couple hundred pounds. .
