My blood parrot recently got these black splotches on him. he still eats normally and acts normal. Any idea what these are? Should I quarantine this fish? my other blood parrots are unaffected by this. Oh, ammonia and nitrate 0, PH is 8.2, Nitrate is <10ppm.

I have never seen this fish be picked on or anything. Actually I'm rather amazed by the lack of aggression in my tank.

blood parrots are the only type of fish apparently that can get 'black spot disease'. it's an indication of poor water quality, and sometimes rarely a sign they're in spawning behavior; should clear up once the water condition improves. give it some time, perhaps he's in a spawning mood and it will be gone soon; but i would perform more frequent, smaller water-changes anyway until you see it clear up~ he should be fine, hope so! :>
