Hello everyone, I'm a fairly new lungfish owner and was wondering if you guys could help me identify something. I've had my West African lungfish for almost a year, he's about 10" long and pretty active. In the last few months I've noticed he's developed a black spot or blotch on his belly - maybe 0.5cm. I haven't observed any behavior changes - he eats consistently and eagerly, and is as active as ever. The spot doesn't seem raised or sunken.

I think the spot is slowly growing though, and was wondering if anyone knows what might be the cause. It doesn't match his coloration/spot pattern - I'll try to post some pics if the forum lets me (this is my first post).

Tank specs:
20 gallon (I know this is very small, but it's only temporary, I'm currently getting a bigger one. He's only 10" right now)
Temp: ~80F
pH: ~7.5
ammonia, nitrite: 0ppm
nitrate: ~10ppm
Penn Plax cascade 1000 filter, with filter floss and sea chem matrix biomedia
The tank has sand substrate, some java ferns, and some driftwood.

Thanks for the input, Cowturtle Cowturtle . I've moved him to a 55gal tank and he's grown a couple inches (~12" now) with very similar tank parameters. He's still quite active and eats regularly, but I think the spot is slowly getting bigger - see the attached photos. Should I be concerned?Attach67143_20171218_231438.jpg Attach67145_20171218_231438.jpg
