I just collected some native bluegills from a pond near me an have noticed black speckling inside of them. They are juvies and are quite translucent, so they're easily noticeable. I know from having cleaned fish before that this can be a parasite. What exactly is this, is it harmful, how do I treat, etc.?

It is a type of worm. I have used prazi pro with success

I read it is some type of parasite that gets eated by snails then develops further when eaten by fish then developed further if eaten by a bird. Then the bird begins the cycle over again...

I read on a few websites that since it can't develop (as no bird is going to eat out of my tank), the parasites will die and fall off. However, one website said that these parasites then rupture as they decompose releasing a bunch of babies, thus creating an endless cycle.

Im not sure what to believe. Any suggestions? Do I treat or not? I've heard it is harmless, but if severe, it can cause harm. Help! Lol
