i just upgraded my tank and have black sand now my pbass are a darker color is this due to the sand? they shouldnt be stressed because there eating pellets fine and have been in the tank for about a week now.
black substrate = black pbass?

Still new to Cichla, but it has been my experience w/ other fish that black sand will definitely cause your fish to become darker.
Its allways a matter of what you like i use a dark sub and see tons of colors in my fish.
I feel like the lighter colored subs wash the colors out of your fish and also seem to put the fish on nervous mode. Like i said however its all about what you like.
