Hey guys,

I went to a LFS owners house last night to see his SA/CA collection (23 tanks) and he had a 6" Texas that was half black, its mouth was half black almost looked like a fish version of zorro.

Im going to start the begging today, just I wanted to know which variant of texas it would be so I can do some research. Or if anyone here has them and/or pictures.

It was holding its own in a 6x2x2 with like 15 larger RD, Parrots and Red texas pair. Was also apparently trying to breed with a cuban. (very similar look minus the texas spangles)

never heard of it, though when they are in breeding colors they have white on the front half of their bodys and when you see them like that it almost looks like they are black and white. thats just my thoughts im sure someone could give you more info than i could.

Apparently its the offspring of two other black texas at another LFS in Melbourne - I had never seen or read anything on them prior to yesterday either.. probably half the reason I fell in love with it, haha.

i'm pretty sure h.carpintis is escondido

I thought, from all the reading I have been doing the last 2 days, that escondido is a variant of the carpintis?

yep it is. They look similar; apparently the escondidos have squiggly markings on their head between the eye and mouth.
