Black vs. Red

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a black...paid $84 for a 3-4". Real pretty fish, and I like the black more. To each their own.

Some that are black are real close in coloration to a red...I think that gets mis-labeled a lot, and its basically just a way to ring up the price most of the time.

i've found that blacks usually cost about $10-$20 more for same sized fish compared to reds. with that said they are the same species so buying one with color that you like is more important than getting a labeled "black" or "red" one

$69 for a 2-3" volitans is high regardless of color...around here 5-6" blacks go for $69 or less so i'd say that store is just priced higher

Ha ha, even I dont get those prices when I buy from my wholesaler.

You cant get a lionfish in WI from a LFS for less than $60. We are talking like a 1-2" fish too...

well you're getting robbed, small volitans go as low as $35 around here and even then they usually are bigger than 1-2"
