I have a 240 that measures 96x24x25 and am really looking to set it up as a black water tank. My first question is what type of plants do well in a black water setup considering the lower lighting? I have been reading that peat is good for tanning the water, is this the recommended way? If the peat is placed in a canister filter or sump tank does the charcoal have to be permanently removed to keep it from removing the tanning? And lastly I've heard that a sump tank or wet/dry system for a planted freshwater tank is not the best way to go, is that the case? Any input on keeping a black water tank in general is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would use indian almond leaves or there is supplements that you can add to the water to get the proper tannins. And also the charcoal won't be such a good idea. It will remove everything that you try to add. And the filter I don't see why a sump wouldn't be a good idea.

The IALs, do you add them in like a mesh bag in the sump or what's the best way to get them added? And any recommendations on plants?

I do plan on using driftwood for sure I already hwve some quality pieces in a different aquarium. I just really want to get some information on good plants to go into a black water setup. Also is it alright to use a CO2 setup for the plants in a black water tank?

What plants are good for a black water tank and can a CO2 system run on the tank without any issues? Lastly what us the besr filter media to use so it doesn't remove the tannins from the water
