Medway Me.
I posted this in the arowana section but nobody answered it, so I'll put it here. I want to do a blackwater tank for a silver arowana, Can anyone give me some advise? Its suppost to be an amazon theme tank, I have some Amazon swords and some Brazilian Pennywort in special 'Amazonian' plant subtrate. Now I want to make it blackwater for the full effect. Are thease products any good? Or is it best to just not bother with blackwater additives?

There aint no almond trees near here but thats a good idea. Should I just forget about the blackwater? The subtrate will add some anyway.

Has anyone ever used the black water expert by kent? I was looking into this stuff, but I don't know exactly what it does in terms of mimicking a black water environment.

You want to do a SA Biotope style tank and your asking if it's good to use?!?!?!Ummm ,if it's naturaly present in the amazon then I would expect the fish to not only tolerate it but to THRIVE in it.Dude, the only reason alot of people don't like it is because of the tannic properties, which is when it does what it's name implies, blackens your water!!So,i think,in my opinion that the look of tannins in a Biotope tank just brings it that much closer to resembling the Amazon.Thank You

backwater extracts are expensive,i just also use an almond leaf
